Lakland Skyline 55-60 Vintage J 5-string Bass – 35” scale
This bass is in great condition with just a small in dent on the neck which I have photographed, and a slight dent/cracking to the varnish on the top above the bridge pickup. Neither of these affect the sound or playability of the bass.
It is a beautiful bass that, though modelled on the Fender Jazz is so much better, in my opinion. It has an amazing tone and a deep, stable, and tight B String thanks to the 35-inch scale and option to either string through body or just the Lakland bridge. Tuners are Hipshot Ultralights – looks to me like the better US version rather than the licenced version. Although these basses are manufactured in Indonesia, they are designed in Chicago and returned to Chicago for checking over prior to being sold. Check online for reviews – I’m sure they will all be extremely positive about this bass, which currently sells new for £1400.
This bass was built in September 2007 and it’s a very comfortable 4.38kg, 9lb 10oz – plays and sounds like a dream, the neck has quite a thin profile and very comfortable. The previous owner upgraded the pots to a vintage J series to get an even closer jazz bass sound – this bass sounds glorious.
