This stunning Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 3 EQ bass, Natural Gloss with Maple Neck and Maple Fretboard, was made in the USA in 2011 – it is in excellent condition. I can find no dings or scratches on at all – the only things that show it’s an eleven-year-old bass is that the nickel-plated machine heads and jack plug plate are slightly tarnished, as is normal with age. There are light scratches from play on the scratchplate but no buckle-rash on the back and no dents or scratches whatsoever. The bass is basically as new, and it’s been in kept in its original Music Man hard case since I bought it.
The case has some light scratches on the outside, but these are hardly visible in the photos and do not detract from the protection the case provides at all.
The bass is fitted with the original Buzz Feiten-type compensated nut. It has the lovely distinctive StingRay growl and is also great for a slap bass sound – the humbucker pickup and 3-band active electronics give a wide variety of sounds, and a fresh battery is installed.
Weight is a reasonable 4.3kg (9.5 lbs). It is currently fitted with Schaller strap locks, but I will refit the original ones for the sale. I will also include a new set of Ernie Ball Super Locks strap locks, and an Ernie Ball Polypro guitar strap.
Reminds me of my first Stingray
I'm pretty sad that I sold this - this was the first Stingray I ever bought, it was awesome ... £525 are you crazy?!!! I traded it in shortly after for a fretless version for around the same amount of money ... then I used that for a long time. It was a lovely bass, one of the best, if not the best, I've ever played, but for some reason I fell out of love with fretless and sold it ... I really wish I hadn't but life is linear.
I've never found it's equal.
