This is the first generation of the Sire Marcus Miller V3 Jazz-style bass with active electronics. I used to have a second generation V7 and this is very similar actually – the main difference as far as I can tell is that the V7 had neck binding and the fret edges were rolled, which is a feature of the second generation Sires. There are bound to be other differences though, so please check online if you are interested in this. It is in immaculate condition – not a mark, not even fingernail (or pick!) scratches on the pick guard!
The bass plays really well, and I’ve set it up with a low action and D’Addario 45-65-86-105 round wound strings. It is a well-balanced bass and is lightweight at just over 8 lbs (3.66kg) so would be a very comfortable gigging bass, and the sounds it can produce either passively or using the 3-band active electronics would cut through any band mix.
