Tokai Vintage Jazz Sound Bass MIJ 1983 Lake Placid Blue almost mint in original box and with generic hard case

This Tokai Jazz Sound bass is in amazing condition considering it is over 40 years old – it’s almost mint and has hardly been used over the years, it is in excellent condition and the frets and fretboard are in great condition. Check out the photos – it feels, sounds, and plays exceptionally well. It even comes in the original box is was sold with, in 1983! There’s only one mark I can find on this bass and that can be seen in the closeup of the front of the body – it’s almost like new, a 43-year old real world closet classic!

I’ve taken it apart to clean it recently to confirm that it is all original. The pickups give a nice powerful, punchy sound – pure Jazz Bass. The electronics and pots are original and fully operational. This bass still has the model number and ‘Made in Japan’ stickers at the bottom end of the neck – pretty amazing after over 40 years!

This bass has a beautiful sound and look. Lake Placid Blue body in overall excellent condition – it’s hardly been used over the years but it’s such a good bass.  The rosewood neck is in great condition, as are the frets. The neck has a nice feel, and this bass is a joy to play – a good weight at 4.2kg/9lb 4oz and nicely balanced. It’s been nicely set up with a clean low action, new D’Addario 40-100 strings and plays (and sounds!) like a dream.
