I bought this second hand and the previous owner had lost the original bridge - he said he'd dismantled it to refinish it and mislaid the bridge! So it had on a replica bridge and I added the string mutes, as can be seen from the photos the body was made for a bridge with string mutes. I needed to drill holes in the bridge and tap them so that the string mute bolts would fit. It now looks pretty good in my view - it's a lovely bass to play and sounds immense, as a Stingray should.
I'm really glad the previous owner didn't refinish it - there is some lovely checking to the varnish. It sounds as good as it looks and is one of the nicest Stingrays I've ever played, and I've had a few over the years!
